New Zealand operates one of the strictest quality assurance programmes for seafood in the world, testing both the produce and the water in which it grows for biotoxins, bacteria and heavy metals.
Stringent monitoring and testing
At Kono, water quality is rigorously and constantly monitored, with testing carried out to specifications and standards set by the U.S Food and Drug Administration, European Union and New Zealand Food Safety Authority to ensure our products are consistently of the highest quality.
Under this stringent monitoring programme, no product can be harvested or caught without confirmation that water testing during the growing cycle, environmental monitoring and product testing has declared it safe.
New Zealand’s water monitoring programmes are recognised globally for their stringency and are important in ensuring that consumers around the world know that New Zealand seafood products are the safest available.
Traceability
Kono Seafood products are traceable. Our product can be traced back to the farm it was grown in, the date it was harvested, and when and where it was processed. Each of our products in the market contain this information.
